Vegetables

Picture
Our life goal is to make beets the most desired vegetable on dining tables across America.

But in case we just lost you with our farm mission statement, we also grow really fantastic lettuces (in coolish weather, anyway), cabbage (delivered with instructions on how to make cole slaw like a Russian), tomatoes, leeks, basil and other herbs, beans, peppers, and squash, among other items.

We try to grow things you will like.  No kohlrabi!  Even though it is easy to grow!

Contented Cows

Picture
We have a herd of about 15 cows, a few of which are new calves born this winter (two shown here).  Cows are amazingly self-sufficient in birth, which is good.  Newborns are up on their feet almost immediately, and spend their entire lives dancing about the farm, napping (as seen here), grass-fed and rotationally-grazed.  They are never transported anywhere, and thus do not suffer stress at any point in their lives.  This makes for tasty beef, though it is lean (read:  chewy), and we have cooking suggestions for you should you choose to buy a quarter or half from us.  Tell us if you're interested.

Happy Chickens & Chicks

Picture
Our flock of nearly 40 runs around the farm, clucking, crowing, and greeting guests.  We have Rhode Island Reds and Buff Orpingtons, with a couple of roosters ruling the roost.

We hand gather our eggs and get them to you as fresh as reasonably possible.  If you ever get a "bad egg" in the bunch, let us know, and we'll replace your 1/2 dozen, dozen, or 18 pack.

Our chickens are "free range" and happy and spend their nights in a rustic coop.  They are an entertaining lot

Our two chicks who live at the house are pretty entertaining, too.  The oldest is shown here.

Bouquets

Picture
Julie is completely inspired to grow a huge flower garden in 2011.  We can't pronounce all the names, despite 3 years of Latin, but trust that they will grow into some beautiful blooms to be delivered to our bag customers and sold as market bouquets.

We improvised by placing the flower garden at the top of our farm driveway, covering our new septic field hand-built by Will (well, with some fun hours using the Excavator, every man's dream task).  This is a lovely sunny spot, and we've got an amazing array of seedlings in the ground.

If you're having an event in late summer or early fall and would like a quantity of flowers, please contact us for an update on what's in bloom.  We'd be delighted to deliver!
